Should Apple Cede its “Gatekeeper” Role?

Yesterday, Wired posted an inflammatory article calling for transparency in Apple’s App store. A reasonable request, but the piece goes further, arguing that Apple is muzzling free speech—or in the author’s hyperbolic language, Apple could “take control of the press.”

Air Force launches unmanned orbital test vehicle

Last night, at 7:52 PM, the Air Force launched its X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV) on a classified mission that could last up to nine months. The unmanned orbiter is designed to be reusable, though exact details remain classified. Launched atop an Atlas V rocket, the X-37B resembles a mini Space Shuttle.

Older CFLs Interfere with Cable TV Equipment

Phillips Electronics has admitted that early CFL models can interfere with cable TV equipment. When CFLs first turn on, their flickering affects the infra-red sensors on remote control receivers. This causes TVs to randomly turn on and off and switch channels.
