The EG-4101/4121CA, from Epson, is purportedly the world's first SAW resonator with a frequency/temperature coefficient. The resonator includes frequency tolerance of ±50 x 10-6, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to 85 °C (standard) or -40°C to 90°C (option). Other features include
The TPS6507x family of single-chip, power management ICs from Texas Instruments purportedly results in a 50-percent smaller DC/DC implementation versus a discrete design. The devices integrate three 2.25-MHz, 1.5-A DC/DC step-down converters that support core processor, memory and I/O voltages; two general purpose, 200-mA LDOs
Now in its 17th year, ESC brings together the largest community of designers, technologists, business leaders, and suppliers all in one place. ECN's comprehensive coverage includes News, Photos, and Videos. Stay tuned!
In Crossing the Chasm, Geoffrey A. Moore introduced the Technology Adoption Lifecycle. This curve highlights a chasm that exists between visionaries who are early adopters of technology and pragmatists who wait for proven technologies and products. For technologies to “cross the chasm” one key component are products with defined product specifications and system deployment guidelines.
Space shuttle Discovery is finally back home in Florida following a cross-country journey and a trip to orbit. Discovery arrived at Kennedy Space Center at noon Monday atop a modified jumbo jet. The plane left Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana in the morning. The flight actually began Sunday at Edwards Air Force Base in California, where Discovery ended its space station visit.
Fiddling with your iPhone behind the wheel can get you fined across much of the nation. But many states are more than happy to tweet you with up-to-the-minute directions on how to steer clear of a traffic jam. It is a mixed signal that some safety experts and politicians say could be dangerous.
In the highest-level conference yet on climate change, 100 world leaders come to the United Nations on Tuesday to decide how to start an energy revolution. While attention turns to U.S. President Barack Obama's first U.N. speech, the most substantial changes may come from what the presidents of China, India and other major economies spell out for billions of people and their households, businesses and farms in the decades ahead.
A European Union court advisor said Tuesday that Google Inc. does not violate luxury goods makers' trademarks when it sells brand names as advertising keywords triggered by Internet searches. The advisor's legal opinion will now be studied by judges at the European Court of Justice, which has been asked to tell a French appeals court how to apply EU trademark law
Fitting into a standard 1U space, the ECS100 family of single output 100 Watt AC/DC power supplies from XP Power meets the internationally-recognised safety approvals for medical devices and IT equipment. The power supplies, measuring 2 x 4 x 1.20 inches (50.8 x 101.6 x 30.5 mm), offers a high power density of 10.4 Watts per cubic inch.
The Model IPP-7004, 3 dB, 90º surface mount hybrid coupler and IPP-8001, 20 dB, Surface Mount Directional Coupler from Innovative Power Products operates from 2.5 to 6.0 GHz. The IPP-7004 combines two signals up to 100 Watts CW of total output power. Features include: insertion loss of < 0.30 dB, amplitude balance of < ±0.75 dB
The ADRF660x series of mixers and ADRF670x series of modulators from Analog Devices are designed for LTE (long term evolution) and 4th generation (4G) cellular base stations. These RFICs (radio frequency integrated circuits) purportedly achieve a 60 percent reduction in board space. The four ADRF670x products integrate an analog I/Q modulator
Fusion is the power source of the future, goes the old saw. And for fifty years, it has always been "fifty years in the future." That may be changing with a number of new small fusion projects in the works or doing actual experiments. Let me mention first the ITER experiment (a tokamak design) which is the fusion project every one knows about.
National Semiconductor announced an LED driver with temperature management control. The LM3424 drives high-brightness LEDs in a variety of indoor, outdoor and automotive applications. Supported in National’s WEBENCH LED Designer, its temperature management control, thermal foldback, enables
The Cree LR6-DR1000 recessed downlight was awarded the Grand Prize at the 2009 Lighting for Tomorrow - Solid State Lighting Competition. A repeat winner, Cree shared the prize with Philip's Color Kinetics for its eW Cove Powercore. The Cree LRP-38, a PAR38 bulb, and the LR6-HE (high-efficiency) were also recognized with Special Focus Awards for technical innovation and high efficiency, respectively.
TURCK has expanded its line of BIM-UNT cylinder position sensors with a new two-wire DC version, along with a NAMUR option for intrinsically safe applications. The cylinder position sensor features a wear-free design and short circuit protection, making it a suitable alternative to electromagnetic switches
