Satori Technology announced the ST265 extending dynamic range USB power meters up to 26.5 GHz. The ST series are complete miniature RF and Microwave power meters. All measurement data and settings are sent via a USB interface to and from a PC or laptop. This gives the concept of using a computer as the user interface in classic microwave power measurement.
Researchers at MIT and Texas Instruments (TI) unveiled a new chip design for portable electronics that can be up to ten times more energy-efficient than present technology.
Molex Incorporated’s Impact backplane connector system is designed to meet the next generation requirements of telecommunications and data networking equipment. They provide up to 80 differential pairs per linear inch in less than 2 mm total width. The system offers two compliant pin design options so customers can balance their electrical and mechanical application needs. Additional features include; broad-edge coupled, hybrid shielding design, providing low cross-talk
Omron Electronic Components LLC announced an addition to its B6TS application-ready touch sensing IC family; 8-channel and 16-channel LF versions are now available. This family of products measures floating capacitance through most insulating touch panel materials. Therefore, they are suitable for use in appliance, medical, commercial, fitness, consumer, and other products that must be able to withstand long life, cleaning, and be easily operated by personnel wearing thin polymer surgical or food service gloves.

It produces a single, fully regulated 24V output capable of providing up to 3.25A continuously. AD80 freestanding AC/DC power adapters are suited for a variety of portable and desktop applications, including
VersaLogic released a RoHS-compliant version of its extended temperature Lynx single board computer for embedded applications. Featuring the same technical specifications as its non-RoHS counterpart, the Lynx EPM-4h is rated to operate in temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. It uses the AMD SC520 CPU for low power draw (less than 5W) and fanless operation. Features include soldered-on system RAM, four COM ports
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors announced the arrival of the super-bright Diamond DRAGON LED. It achieves brightness of up to 250 lumens, and will be available in whites ranging from 2,700K through 6,500K as well as all monochromatic colors. With this technology, OSRAM will offer an LED that is appropriate for indoor
Texas Instruments introduced two battery fuel gauge devices with integrated low-dropout regulators (LDOs) for smart phones, mobile internet devices and media players with embedded or removable batteries. The system-side and battery pack-side fuel gauges build on the company's line of integrated circuits (ICs) that predict battery life with
Agilent Technologies introduced a pulse function arbitrary noise generator, which provides desirable signal quality combined with versatile waveforms. It is appropriate for general purpose bench tests or advanced serial data stress tests. The Agilent 81150A is the stimulus for use in conjunction with Agilent's 5/6/80000 Infiniium real-time oscilloscope or DCA-J sampling oscilloscope for serial data testing. Its integration into one instrument minimizes cabling, space and test time.
SKF profile rail guides provide precise positioning, smooth operation, high load-carrying capacity, high stiffness, and unlimited stroke for linear motion system applications in including medical, factory automation, assembly, and electronics manufacturing and other markets. The expanded product line encompasses a variety of sizes featuring various slide configurations (normal, wide, long) and lengths to meet specific application requirements.
People measure temperature more than any other physical characteristic. As a result, semiconductor vendors offer a large variety of silicon-based temperature sensors that usually operate in a range from -40°C to 125°C, although vendors sometimes tailor sensor spans for specific applications. Sensors used in PCs and servers, for example, may measure in a narrower range — about 75°C to 110°C. Depending on your application and budget, you can purchase inexpensive sensors with an accuracy of ±1°C to ±2°C.
Lithium-ion batteries have taken the portable-electronics world by storm. Tony Armstrong, the power-products marketing manager at Linear Technology Corp. recently told me he bought his son a radio-controlled all-terrain vehicle. About half of the RC models and transmitters he examined came with lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries. Just two years ago, Armstrong found almost all models relied on nickel-cadmium or nickel-metal-hydride batteries.
