Accurate Technologies' CANverter I/O Module enables bi-directional conversion between CAN and analog/digital signals. Version 2.0 is fully field upgradeable and recoverable. Users can instantly check for channel status or firmware versions using the Device drop-down menu in the CANverter Configuration Tool. The tool has an upgraded look and presents functions in a more user-friendly manner based on customer feedback
Aitech Defense Systems offers a multi-I/O PMC that provides a variety of configuration options for different I/O environments. The low power, single-width M705 features PMC density with up to five dual channel, dual-redundant MIL-STD-1553B channels, 16 ARINC-429 receive channels and eight ARINC-429 transmit channels, up to six RS-232/422/485 serial channels and eight opto-isolated digital discrete input channels, all of which reduce the number of I/O cards when developing subsystems. Additional board options include an ARINC 708 Weather Radar interface contained as VHDL within the large on-board FPGA.
For all the new component demos I see each year, particularly those with applications for consumer electronics, I often wonder whether the latest whiz-bang feature that a particular component is intended to deliver for the end-product is really satisfying some sort of demand. In other words, does the end-user have an appetite for that revolutionary new feature?
Stealth Computer Corporation released a small form factor mini PC with built-in PCI expansion slot capability. The LPC-450PCI Little PC uses Intel’s latest Core 2 Duo processor technology for desirable Mini PC performance. The anodized aluminum chassis measures just over 2 inches tall having the overall footprint approximately the size of a hard cover novel, measuring 10" × 5.8" × 2.8" and weighing approximately 10 lb. or 4.5 kg. Using open and available PCI card slot
LEDtronics announced its latest generation of PAR30-Style LED spotlight bulbs which is made up of five 3W high-power LEDs. They are direct incandescent PAR30 replacements, combining advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, standard 25 mm Edison screw-in bases, and light optimizing designs producing 480 to 544 lumens of vivid light depending on the bulb model. They are available in a 40° light-emitting viewing angle, running on 80V to 260V AC current.
OKW Electronics has launched Camden Electronics’ CFTBN series fused terminal strips for wiring lighting equipment, power supplies, fire and security systems, and domestic equipment. The terminal strips incorporate a spare fuse option in the fuse carrier allowing technicians to immediately locate a replacement in the event of a blown fuse, resetting the circuit with minimum delay. The fuse carrier is suitable for glass and ceramic fuses, has a comfortable finger grip
Loadstar Sensors, Inc. announced the iLoad Mini miniature load cell, and the DQ-1000 versatile signal conditioning board that enables three different outputs: digital USB, 0.5V to 4.5V analog or 2 mV/V. The sensor offers ease of use in a rugged, low profile 1.25" diameter package and heights between 0.5" and 1" depending on the configuration. The separation of the load cell from the signal conditioning interface board gives greater flexibility to designers and inventors who want to fit the sensor into small spaces.
International Rectifier introduced the iP2005A. The device is optimized for very low EMI, eliminating the need for external snubber circuits in EMI-sensitive designs such as consumer game consoles. By eliminating external snubbers, it reduces per phase power loss by up to 2.3W compared to the previous generation device that required an external resistor and capacitor snubber with values of
Jim MacDonald, Zilker Labs, Inc. comments "The need for higher energy efficiency in embedded systems continues to rise on the priority list of systems developers and end users alike"
The concept of sustainable design started, not as a way of conserving the environment, but to prolong battery life in portable consumer goods such as cell phones, laptops and PDAs.
Acopian's narrow profile WN8 series of power supplies, with outputs from 3.3V DC to 48V DC and from 120W to 288W, have been recognized for compliance with the requirements of UL508. They can be used on an input of 90V AC to 265V AC or 110V DC to 350V DC. All models have power factor correction and output inhibit capability - applying between +3V DC and +25 VDC to the Inhibit terminal will disable the output.
Copley Controls has developed a hardened version of the versatile panel-mounting Accelnet servo drive to meet both military and extreme industrial environments. The drive’s extended temperature, humidity, vibration and shock ranges provide added security in non-extreme applications. Designated Series R20, the hardened drives provide networking and stand-alone motion control for brush and brushless motors
In the world of portable consumer-electronic devices, manufacturers are faced with a challenging prospect — creating physically smaller devices that have enhanced performance while maintaining or extending operating battery life. These requirements have rippled throughout the entire electronics industry, forcing battery and Integrated Circuit (IC) manufacturers to constantly push the boundaries of technology.
The Connor-Winfield XO125 is a 5V Voltage Controlled Oven Compensated Controlled Crystal Oscillator (VCOCXO) with an HCMOS output. It is designed for Stratum 3E applications requiring a low aging rate and tight frequency stability. The device is housed in the standard CO8 EURO package with standard frequencies of 10 MHz and 12.8 MHz available.
BlockMaster Electronics announced the expansion of their high power line of thru-panel terminal blocks with the addition of the Series OTB-388 with a terminal pitch of 21 mm and Series OTB-488 at a 27 mm terminal pitch. Both of these carry a current capacity rating of 100A at 600V. The two series are designed for motor control, gen set, electric heating
